Tasting Notes
Vintage: 2017
Shiraz 75%, Grenache 20%, Mourvedre 5%
Region: McLaren Vale (sub region: Sellicks Hill) 100%
Paul’s notes:
2017 was a good year for grape production and an excellent year for lovely robust fruit characters.
Almost ideal ripening conditions in the Vale and particularly at Sellicks Hill, allowing the development of outstanding fruit.
Salute is my new baby, developed to offer outstanding value.
The shiraz is 100% Piombo vineyard (Sellicks Hill’s own) and is the remainder that doesn’t quite make the Super Premium products, “Piombo” and “Diavolo”.
A spicy little beast, Salute is known as the baby Valletta. Full mouth of firy shiraz with a following act of warm Grenache fruits and the lovely elegant tannins to finish from the Mourvedre.
Built for immediate drinking pleasure with the ability to develop further in bottle.
“Spicy, cheeky, showy and fulfilling. Salute is by far the best value wine you will find and a real crowd pleaser.”
